Hello everyone… for the fifth time and on the fifth platform! Again, I am David Slupek, a senior here at Mary Washington, studying biology. I am taking digital storytelling to not just fulfill my final gen-ed requirement but also learn how to use other forms of technology to communicate in small and large groups, while having a good time. I am excited to be a part of The End this semester!
This week started slowly I was coming down with the flu for the first few days of the semester, as if going to class wasn’t enough. But, I am feeling much better, thanks for asking! I’m not going to lie to you, I was a little confused on what exactly to do for all of the set up in this class, but with some help from a fellow member of The End, Eric Shaw, I was able to catch up quickly! I think that this will be a fun and exciting way to see how we can use our creativity to make this class productive. It was cool to go through and take a look at everyones blogs and posts throughout the week and get a small introduction to everybody!
The first thing I accomplished this week was setting up my Slack account, twitter, and new instagram to separate my personal interests from this class. Then I figured out how to make a youtube account and uploaded my TDC video, then finished up by finally putting my website together, installing WordPress, and making this blog post!IMG_2356
Now that were all caught up…
What is your own personal relationship with apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic fiction?
I would have said that my own personal relationship with apocalyptic or post-apocolyptic fiction was non-existent about 1 week ago, but today is going strong!
I have seen some apocalyptic TV shows, movies, and played some videos games, but I enjoy the theme and think that it will be an awesome way to keep this class motivating and fun!
- Are there particular stories (from books, TV, movies, etc.) that have resonated with you? Why?
When I go back and think about anything that would fall under the topic of this class I keep coming up with I Am Legend. I’d have to say that is one of the best apocalyptic movies of all time, Will Smith is the GOAT.
- What genre of the apocalypse (zombie, alien invasion, plague, etc) seems particularly interesting to you? Why?
I think an ALIEN INVASION apocalypse would be the most interesting to me, it would answer so many questions. Zombies, not so much it has already been fleshed out too many times and plagues seem too realistic.
